| A-C Brake
was founded in 1924 and functioned primarily as a brake specialist.
The derivation of the name is unclear; however, there are two theories. The
original owners were Bill Attix and Charles Clephas; thus the A-C from the
first letter of each of their last two names. Or, the second theory is that
the name came from the ol A-C (anti-clatter) brake that was on the Model
T Ford. |

| Records indicate
that Clephas bought out Attix in August 1924. When Clephas died in 1953,
his brother-in-law E C Thirlwell assumed the management of the company until
his death in 2003. Thirlwell’s children, ran the company until May 2008 at which time the
assets were acquired by Republic Diesel, Inc.. |

| Over the years A-C Brake has grown and expanded and is presently in its
fourth location directly across the street from Republic Diesel. We are serving
all of Kentucky and Southern Indiana on a daily basis with a knowledgeable sales
force and a fleet of delivery vehicles. Representing over 100 manufacturers
carrying more than 35,000 different part numbers helps us meet the growing
needs of our valued customers. |

| A-C Brake has built a reputation for being able to serve its customers
and now has additional distribution thru Republic Diesel’s Louisville
Lexington, Prestonsburg, Kentucky and Fairfield, Ohio branches. We are proud to
offer a Special Order Service (SOS) where we will locate hard to find parts. We
employ ASE certified mechanics. They are so competent that these mechanics are
often called upon to repair vehicles that our competitors could not. Our
average employee has 10 years of service. |

| Our primary target for a customer base has changed somewhat over the
past thirty years. No longer just an automotive parts house, we consider
ourselves to be a heavy-duty fleet and industrial specialist. Our customers are
fleets, municipalities, contractors, mines, and industry; however, we will
never be able to get away from our originating product of brake parts and
service for automobiles, truck, and industrial applications. |
